Savvy Chic Bags - Your Best Online Source for Affordable Fashion Handbags and Accessories

Welcome to Savvy Chic Bags's Blog!

Savvy Chic Bags is an online handbag and fashion accessories boutique. In 2010, like so many other small retailers we had to close our beautiful boutique located on Ellsworth Ave. in Pittsburgh's Shadyside shopping district as a result of the economic climate.

But you can still shop Savvy Chic Bags online at http://www.scbags.com/, and we still specialize in unique, trendy, and most of all affordable handbags and fashion accessories.

And check this blog often for fashion information, new arrivals, and anything fashion related, and some things that aren't!

Evening Clutches

Yesterday we got in a shipment of beautiful evening clutches, and just in time for Prom.  An evening bag is always a timeless investment because the look and styles never change dramatically, so you can carry the same bag for years and it always looks stylish.

We haven't even gotten these bags on the website yet but we do have them in the store, and I wanted everyone to have a chance to see them before they are all gone!

I think my favorite is this  unique black faux-leather round rose bag with optional silver shoulder chain.

This brushed silver fabric structured shell bag has a pretty floral rhinestone clasp, and it also has a rounded silver-tone handle in addition to the optional silver shoulder chain.

These gold chiffon rosette covered and black rosette covered soft clutches are both inspired by Valentino's feminine floral trends, and they can either be carried as a clutch or with the optional silver chain shoulder strap.

These rectangular clutches comes in either black or gold fabric over a structured shell.  Both  colors have a beautiful rhinestone fold-over clasp and both have optional silver shoulder chains.

Drop 3 sizes in 10 Minutes??

Yesterday our friend Sarah Spencer from Ardyss International put on a showcase at Savvy Chic Bags, and what my business partner Denise M. and I found most interesting was their shapewear (think Spanx). Their garments are "therapeutic" because in addition to redistributing your body fat and redefining the shape of your body, the garments apparently help with correcting your posture and helps your body's lymphatic system to drain properly. Well, I don't know about all that, but two of Sarah's guests tried on the shapewear garments and the results were pretty amazing. One woman was wearing a thin and lightweight clingy summer top, and when she put on the garment she was all curvy and shapely! She was thrilled because she didn't have anymore under arm fat (you know what I'm talking about, the fat that spills out over the sides of your bra ;-) But she really did look great--she looked naturally firm, and her waist was much smaller and more defined, and what really surprised me is that although she was wearing a thin and clingy top, you couldn't tell she was wearing the garment at all, and you couldn't see it's construction through the top. These garments are supposed to be much better and more comfortable than your normal shapewear, and they claim to help you lose weight as well, but I'm still trying to decide if this type of thing is for me. But I'm wondering what you Spanx wearing ladies out there think about these types of shapewear, and have any of you tried any of these Ardyss garments?

Just arrived last week!

http://www.scbags.com/catalog_c350386.htmlWe just got in a new shipment of spring bags last week and I'm loving the styles and colors. This mustard floral inspired bag is pretty fancy--it takes a woman with lots of style and confidence to pull it off, but it definitely makes a true fashion statement, and it's my personal favorite of the week.

Sometimes you just want a bag that's comfortable, stylish, and goes with just about anything. That's how I'm feeling about this deep orange hobo. I love the brass hardware and super soft luxurious feel of this bag, it's roomy enough to carry all of your summer essentials, and the color simply personifies summer. I'm pretty sure this one's going to be my "go everywhere" bag this summer!

Purple is still a color favorite this season, and this regal ruffled satchel is definitely a favorite of mine. I like the fact that it can be carried as a handbag by the double-handles, or as a cross-body shoulder bag with the inclusion of a long adjustable shoulderstrap--just depends on your mood.

It's casual comfort with this new look. This roomy tote is a cleverly quilted faux leather in varigated shades of pink. It's the perfect accessory for casual summer wear.

Here at Savvy Chic Bags, we're thrilled to finally see Spring and we just brought in lots of beautiful styles and colors in handbags to celebrate!

This fuchsia mid-size hobo is the perfect compliment to your light summer outfits. The four zippered outside pockets, silver-toned hardware, and zippered top closure make it the bag you'll love to take everywhere.

This apple-green hobo with over-sized silver charm and

Welcome to my Blog!

Here's a little bit about Savvy Chic Bags...

Well, Savvy Chic Bags is owned by me and my friend (her name is Denise too) and I guess you could call us the Pittsburgh "bag ladies." Our store is located at 5880 Ellsworth Ave. (Shadyside) in Pittsburgh. We carry really unique and trendy purses and fashion accessories, and we are the complete opposite of the traditional Shadyside store--we carry only affordable fashion accessories. Our bags are usually priced anywhere from $29.99-$89.00, and our customers always tell us that they love our styles because they are unique--and everyone really loves our prices. When Denise and I shop for inventory we always look for the trendiest and most current styles, and we keep them at the lowest possible prices to keep them affordable for every budget.

We carry all kinds of accessories--hats, scarves, wraps, and jewelry, but our main focus is our large selection of handbags.

As far as our jewelry, we have two jewelry designers, Peggy Strimel and Rochelle Johnson, who create most of our jewelry. Peggy does lots of work with Swarovski crystal and all sorts of fashion jewelry, and Rochelle does lots of beautiful ethnic jewelry. So if you don't see anything you like or you have something special in mind, Peggy or Rochelle can design something special and unique just for you.

We really like different and creative things and we want to bring that to the boutique, so right now we are working on bringing some very creative local artists and fashion people in to the store for trunk shows and exhibits etc.

Oh, and one more thing. We do purse parties--but we do them in our boutique where your guests have access to all of our inventory, and our party hostesses receive 10% of the parties net sales in free merchandise. Our store is spacious so there's plenty of room for lots of guests and our purse parties are always a fun "girls day out!"

I'm going to work really hard at keeping this blog updated on a daily basis, so keep checking back for more information and to find out about new items and events. And don't forget to take a look at our website http://www.scbags.com/. We're glad we have a website, but we really hate our merchandise pictures. It doesn't matter how nice the pictures are, they NEVER look as good as the real thing. So that means you really need to stop in to see them in person to touch them, try them on...all you purse girls out there know what I mean ...

Stop back in a day or so for pics of our newest spring bags--and just in time to start shopping for Mother's Day. Because you know Mom's a "purse girl" too!

Talk to you later!
